Yahoo! discussion group
The John Hersey Band Alumni Committee is inviting you to join a group discussion forum on Yahoo Groups.
This group is for all 1970 through 1982 John Hersey High School Band alumni, directors, chaperones, teachers, and administrators. Here you can network with the band family -- share what you've been doing for the past 20-30 years, plan gatherings, provide updates about the current Hersey Band, find friends, tell stories old and new, discuss matters of importance, share photos, etc.
Membership is strictly limited to alumni/chaperones/directors.
To join our Geevum group you need to do the following:
- Go to the Yahoo! website at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Geevum.
- Click on the "join this group" link and follow instructions.
- If you are already a member of Yahoo, there is no need to register again, but only to request joining the group.
- Since this list is confined to Geevumites, you will need to confirm your identity. Please send an email to Geevum-owner@yahoogroups.com. Include your identity (including your maiden name and graduation year).
It is possible to join without becoming registered with Yahoo, but a special invitation will be needed from a moderator.
We highly recommend that you be registered with Yahoo when you join us. This will give you access to the website and other features that Yahoo Groups offers (including Calendar, Photos, Files, Polls and a Chat area for chatting with other group members).
Once you join, you will be subscribed to the group called Geevum. You will be able to send a "post" (which is like sending an email to the entire group) and receive a post the same as you receive your personal email. You have three options as to how you receive those posts;
- individual emails (each post as an email)
- digest form (all the posts of the day in one or two emails)
- or no email where you do not receive any posts in the form of email but you can read all the messages when you go to the website. (You need to be registered with Yahoo to do this.)
When your membership is accepted, you will receive a welcome letter (generated by Yahoo, and edited by your moderators who are Geevum alumni), and two additional "files" in the form of emails. You should read those emails carefully and file them somewhere for future reference. The two files are also available in the "files" section of the Geevum Yahoo Group website.
